NITTEN TAKE THE POINTS DESPITE SOMERVILLE DOUBLE After a goalless first half, Penicuik took the lead when Aaron Somervlle volleyed home a Watson cross. However, Ryan Ferguson equalised for Newtongrange two minutes later. Four minutes later Daniel McBay put the home side ahead. Then in the 82nd minute, Aaron Somerville equalised with his 90th goal for Penicuik. Once again Nitten hit back with the winning goal scored by their trialist to take all three points. THE FOOTBALL PRIZE OF A LIFETIME (2010) Out of over 900,000 entries to win the ITV Golden Ticket in 2010 for four people, we received a phone call from ITV on Monday morning the 8th March telling us we had won the competition. It took a few days to sink in that we were heading off for the four greatest football cup finals in the world. We, with our guests were off to Hamburg for the Europa League Cup Final on 12th May (Athletico Madrid vs Fulham) then straight from Hamburg to London on Saturday 15th May at Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup Final (Chelsea vs Portsmouth). We then had a short break until 22nd May when we flew out to the fabulous Bernabau Stadium for the Champions League fina l (FC Bayern Munich vs FC Inter Milan). The ultimate final included in the prize came on 11th July when we attended the World Cup fina l in the Soccer City Stadium, in Johannesburg, South Africa. All this came with 5 star accommodation and top class match hospitality. We hope you enjoy the experiences of this fabulous, once in a lifetime prize. SCOTTISH FA BOARD CONFIRMS THREE-WEEK SUSPENSION OF PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL BENEATH SPFL PREMIERSHIP AND CHAMPIONSHIP The Scottish FA Board met last night to discuss the escalating COVID-19 situation across the country and its impact on the national game at all levels. While the updated Scottish Government guidance permits the continuation of professional sport, the board meeting, which followed a Joint Response Group discussion on the matter last Friday, nevertheless considered the implications of doing so at all tiers of the Scottish football professional pyramid, against a backdrop of increased positive cases across the country. In particular, the board gave extensive consideration to making a decision in the interests of public health, taking cognisance of the government’s wish to reduce travel and possible contact with others whilst safeguarding commercial broadcasting contracts that sustain the professional game. Following a meeting between the Scottish FA and the Minister for Public Health Sport and Wellbeing, both parties have agreed to impose a temporary suspension of all football beneath the Scottish Professional Football League Championship, encompassing all predominantly part-time tiers of the Scottish professional pyramid, from midnight on 11.1.21.
