He
became
a
stalwart
of
Heriot
Watt’s
East
of
Scotland
League
team
over
seven
seasons
and
earned
recognition
as
a
member
of
the
Scottish
Universities
select
team.
Joined
Haddington
at
the
start
of
2015-16
before
heading
to
Penicuik.
He
was
capped
for
Scotland
home
and away agains Ireland and left Penicuik to join Berwick Rangers, but returned to Penicuik in season 2019/20.
We are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Paul Thomson from Lowland League side Vale of
Leithen. Centre half Paul joined Vale for a second time last summer having previously represented Edinburgh
University, Spartans Juniors, Dundee North End, Tayport and Spartans, as well as having a spell in
Iceland.

Hutchison
Vale,

he

He
was
described
in
the
Spartans
match
programme
at
the
weekend,
‘a
fantastic
work
ethnic,
combined
with
skill
and
pace,
and his versatility is a big asset’.

the
Year
awards
during
his
time
there

the

scorers

the
Lowland
League
last
season. Described as ‘quick, direct and pacey’, Sean will add to our attacking options for the new season.

We are delighted to confirm the signing of forward Nicky Reid. Equally comfortable up front or deeper, local lad Nicky
has previously spent time within the Hibernian Youth Academy, before moving into Spartans, breaking into their first
team squad aged just 16 at the start of last season, bagging a number of goals including a memorable winner up at
Deveronvale in the Scottish Cup.
We are delighted to confirm midfielder Kieran Watson, formerly of Gala Fairydean Rovers, has joined Penicuik Athletic.

spent

years
within
Hearts
Youth
before
spending
a
year
with
Hibs.
He
then
moved
onto
Edinburgh
City
in
2016 before signing for Gala at the beginning of last season.
Well
known
to
Penicuik
fans
from
his
spells
at
Newtongrange,
Musselburgh
and
latterly
Dalkeith,
as
well
as
East
Fife
and
Selkirk,
former
Junior
Scotland
international
Paul
was
the
Jags
top
goal
scorer
last
season
and
will
provide
further
competition up front.
Ryan Baptie (Defender) - 22 year old Ryan began his career in the youth ranks of Hibs all the way up to Under 20s,
before spending a season at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He then joined Peterhead prior to season 2015/16 and in
his two seasons there Ryan spent time out on loan with both Linlithgow Rose and Broxburn Athletic, helping the latter
to the Fife & Lothians Cup Final last season. Ryan however might be best known for his stunning 35 yard strike for
Linlithgow against Wick Academy in the Scottish Cup which was nominated for Goal of the Tournament.

first
spell
at
Penicuik
in
July
2017,
scoring
on
his
debut
against
Linlithgow
Rose
before
going
on
to
help
the
Cuikie
lift
the
East
of
Scotland
Cup
at
the
end
of
the
season.
Injuries
limited
his
start
to
last
season
and
he
only
made
16
appearances,
scoring
10
goals
and
making
11
assists.
A
loan
spell
at
Herriot
Watt
University
in
the
second
half
of
the
season
followed.
Lumbert
has
so
far
played
48
times for Penicuik, scoring 24 goals. Welcome back Lumbo!

can confirm midfielder Gregor Lamb has been promoted to our first team squad from our U20s squad.

a
youth
before
spending
eleven
years
with
Edinburgh

with

sheets.
He
won
the
King
Cup
in
2014,
and
also
represented
the
Scottish
Universities
side,
playing
a
key
role
in
their home nations triumph in 2013.
