Before starting comedy full-time in 1992, Joe Camay had been a telephone engineer, a bookie and ran a unisex clothing store. He is Glasgow born, married to Margaret, a dancing teacher and they have 3 adult children, 2 sons and a daughter. They currently stay in Newton Mearns with aforementioned daughter and a 10 year-old German pointer called Homer, after the character in the Simpsons not the author of the Iliad. Joe's comedy ''career'' began at the sharp end in social clubs and he had a quick taste of TV when he appeared in a comedy series with amongst others, Alan Stewart and Dave Spikey. Over the next few years more TV appearances followed with the likes of Alaistar McGowan, Bill Bailley, Lee Evans and Fred McAuley. Joe was also featured in 3 TV adverts for Belhaven beer. He has appeared on TV with Bob Monkhouse and Des O' Connor and in numerous theatres around Britain. Joe has performed on North sea oilrigs and in prisons. He has worked in N.Ireland, Dubai and Florida. Over the last few years Joe has mainly worked the Sportsmen's after-dinner circuit, where he has created a niche for his brand of grown-up humour. He is an award -winning after-dinner comedian (the award was for bee keeping). The plaudits from the organisations, associations and teams he has worked for are too numerous to mention (and Joe says ''they become bland and boring after a while, anyway''). Here are just a few from his fellow performers:- John Gahagan:   ''Awesome---like Chic Murray with a bad attitude'' Bill Copeland :   ''Currently my favourite comedian working in Scotland'' Alan Hansen:   ''never heard of him'' Abu Hamza:   ''I don’t think he’s funny at all'' Jan Venegoor of Hesselink:   ''Joe Camay is not a big name''
