The new management team of Craig Meikle (Manager) and recent appointment Scott Montgomery (Assistant Manager)
took over from season 20013/14. Some detail on their football background is shown below. Joining long time coach
Jimmy Wight and new Physio Frank Fleming is goal keeper coach David McGinley, completing the management team.
Craig's previous clubs and Honours were: Eskmills boys club, Musselburgh 2000-04, Bonnyrigg Rose 04-08, signing
with Penicuik Athletic in 2009 and is now player/manager. He has won the following honours: B division champion, 3 x
Brown cup winner, Miller cup winner, 2 x Fife and Lothian winner, East of Scotland cup
Scott grew up in Penicuik and regularly watched the Cuikie play at Eastfield Park. As a youngster he played for Eskmill
Boys Club before embarking on a soccer scholarship in the USA from 1997-2002. During his time in the over the pond
he played for Iowa Central Community College, August State University, won the South-East Region with Lander
University in 2001 and was twice named an All-American. After returning he played four seasons with the Rookie
Cuikie, was named Supporters Player of the Year in 2003-04 and won the Lothian Division Two in 2004-05 season. He
also played a further six seasons with Edinburgh United before being forced to retire through injury at the tender age of
34! He is delighted to be back involved again at his hometown club.
I have been at Penicuik since they returned to the Junior scene in 2000. Before that I coached at Eskmills for many
years then Rosyth Recreation for two years.
Having been a Penicuik supporter all my life it was an easy decision to accept an invitation from then manager Willie
McGinley to assist him in trying to get a team together , which we managed with the massive help of Ramie
Sandison and Ally McCarry, only missing out on promotion in the last game of that first season. Since then I have
worked with Snowy McKean who took over from Willie. Next was Graig Meikle and Brian Ryrie then after Brian
leaving at the end of last season Criag and Paul Riley and now with Craig and Scott Montgomery and I have enjoyed
working with everyone of them. It has been an absolute pleasure watching the team progress since that first game
against Harthill Royal and hopefully we can keep improving .
After coaching youth keepers at Tweeddale Rovers for a couple of seasons, I started senior goalkeeper coaching at Peebles
Rovers East of Scotland in 2006. I then did a spell at Lothian Thistle before spending two seasons at Vale of Leithen and then
moving on to Whitehill Welfare. I was also involved in keeper coaching at the Scottish Youth Football Association for two years
and I coached the East of Scotland Select keepers when they played England 'C' in 2010. A certain Youssef Bejaoui
represented the EoS Select that day. After much badgering by my long time friend Jeff Gray I agreed to join him at Penicuik
Athletic whilst continuing to coach the Whitehill keepers. Sadly, after only a few months at Penicuik we lost Jeff and there isn't a
day I don't think about him and what I'd give to receive just one more of his 'moancalls'! I've been fortunate to have been
involved in a number of successes during my time with my previous clubs: two promotions and a number of cup wins. Hopefully
this season will
After hanging up his boots, Frank took the role of coach for Sherwood Boy’s Club under 11’s – 18’s.This was followed
by 20 years as physio to Arniston Rangers. He then moved to Dalkeith Thistle where he served as President for four
years. This was followed by a spell at Whitehill Welfare before being invited to join Penicuik Athletic. Frank said “I am
looking forward to working with the Cuikie and wish them great success for the future”.
