FIRST AID FOR SPORTS CLUBS Midlothian Community Sports Hubs are running a First Aid Course for Sports Clubs and Coaches. The course is being run by Randori Social Enterprises on the 3rd and 10th October 5.45pm to 9pm  at Newbattle Community Campus. The Council is no longer able to offer free courses for clubs, as the staff member who delivered the courses has left. Instead we are able to offer a subsidy of 50% of the cost of the course, refunded on attendance. To register for the course please sign in using the link below. LATEST MIDLOTHIAN SPORT HUB NEWS MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL GRANTS FUNDING Community groups, charities and social enterprises are invited to apply to the Midlothian Council Grants Programme for projects starting from 1 April 2019 that will improve the lives of people in Midlothian. There are: large grants of up to £33,500 small grants of up to £2,000 micro grants of up to £500 a year. You can apply for up to three years funding. The deadline for applications is Sunday 14 October 2018. https://www.midlothian.gov.uk/funding CLUBS OPEN DOORS WEEK 2018 - 23-30 SEPTEMBER What is it? To mark UK Active's European Week of Sport and to celebrate Year of Young People, we will be promoting ‘Clubs Open Doors Week’, taking place between 23 – 30 September. READ MORE SCOTTISH SPORTS FUND - ALDI   ·         Aldi are providing grants to sports clubs across Scotland in a phased approach. ·         Applications for The Lothians and the Borders are open between 27th August and 1st October. ·         If you are looking for funding, download the details here and don’t leave it to the last minute. ·         https://www.aldi.co.uk/scottishsportfund   GO LIVE, GET ACTIVE   Between 2nd – 12th August 2018 Europe’s top athletes will compete in the inaugural European Championships. The Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council are investing £1m to use the impact of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships to activate local and national legacy objectives under the newly-created GO LIVE! banner. Midlothian have applied for and been granted funding for two projects.   Newbattle ·         The first is to support the Newbattle Learning Community and provide activity during summer for people experiencing multiple deprivations. Sport and Physical activity for the children will be linked to healthy meals and opportunities for the family to participate in activities. ·         The Sports Hubs will be looking to provide a range of sports coaching for the children.   Sports Shed ·         The Midlothian Sports Shed aims to engage Men over approximately 40 years old in sport, physical activity and peer support. It aims to develop a peer led organisation, which provides support to help men develop their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. The participants will be recruited to become volunteers for the sports clubs in the future. ·         The Sports Hubs will be looking to provide the coaches for this programme   Both these programmes will be discussed at the next Hub meetings. MIDLOTHIAN’S YOUNG PEOPLE AWARDS 2018 To mark the Year of Young People 2018, Midlothian Council and the Lord-Lieutenant of Midlothian are working together on a new Awards Scheme to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people aged from 8 to 26 within the community.
