Week three of training pushes the players hard

mark dougie training
Mark Cowan and Dougie Hope in training

Three weeks into training the players have been pushed hard to attain full fitness after the layoff. Training has seen them put through their paces at Penicuik Park, including double sessions on Saturdays and twice they have had demanding physical runs at Arthur's Seat. Hopefully this will get them fit for Saturday's game against Hearts.

Preparations for the new season begin

It only seems like yesterday that the season finished, but the new season and all it’s preparations are already upon us. Training starts on the 5th July, but new manager Stuart (Snowy) McKean has been busy since early June assessing his squad, seeking out, interviewing and signing new players. He is still in the process of signing one more player, but feels he has the squad with which he wants to start the new season. Stuart and the players all got together on Tuesday 24th June when he laid out his strategy and plans for the coming season. Full details of the new signings will be published shortly on the website.

The new season kicks off with a friendly against Heart of Midlothian on Saturday 19th July at Penicuik Park. The Andy Kelly Memorial Trophy follows this when we play three games in the space of five days. The first tie is against Bonnyrigg Rose on Tuesday 22nd July followed by Newtongrange Star on Thursday 24th and Dalkeith Thistle on Saturday 26th – this year all the games are away from home. We have also arranged a friendly at home against Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday 2nd August.
