Penicuik were rocked back on their heels when straight from the kick off, St Andrews
attacked up the left and the cross was headed into goal where Bald dropped the ball and
McINNES was on hand to bundle the ball over the line in 30 seconds. Three minutes later,
following a free kick to Penicuik, Harvey turned Dammer only to see his shop scrape past
the left hand post with keeper Bennett beaten. In the 12th minute, a poor kick out by
Bennett was picked up by Brigain who set free Killin on the right, but his strike went well
wide of the target. In their next attack, only a last gasp clearance for a corner denied
Penicuik. However, from the corner, the ball was only partially cleared to the right wing
from where Meikle returned the ball back into the box and BRIGAIN headed the ball home.
In the 23rd minute, a free kick to Penicuik was driven in low and hard, but everyone
missed the ball and it flashed inches past the post. In the 43rd minute, keeper Bennett
was well placed to save a Gay free kick. In the final move of the half, a searching cross
into the box by Gay was headed past by Harvey.
Half Time: Penicuik 1 St Andrews 1
Three minutes into the half, Penicuik attacked up the left and the cross was headed back
into the box where Brigain was only inches away from knocking the ball into the back of
the net. In the 54th minute a St Andrews free kick was headed narrowly over the crossbar
by Dammer. Immediately afterwards, St Andrews attacked down the right wing and a great
ball across the six yard box was slotted home by MUHSIN at the back post. In the 63rd
minute, following a throw in to Penicuik, Killin turned Dammer beautifully only to be
upended in the box. GAY slammed home the spot kick sending keeper Bennett the wrong
way. Nine minutes later, a lovely ball over the top of the St Andrews defence picked out
Harvey who saw his strike blocked by Bennett. The rebound fell to Barr but his netbound
strike was deflected away by Dammer. This time the rebound fell to Gay and Bennett
pulled off a great two handed save to clear the danger. In the 77th minute, Brigain was
through on gaol when Brash took him down from behind to earn his second yellow card of
the game and an early bath. Penicuik were unable to take advantage of the sending off
and the game ended in a 2 - 2 draw.
