Forbes, Reid Penicuik were the first to threaten when Stevenson dribbled past two defenders and crossed the ball low into the six yard box where Somerville’s touch was easily gathered by keeper Mungall. Ten minutes later, a mazy run by Somerville saw his cross headed by Connolly but keeper Mungall pulled off a superb save to deny the midfielder. In the 26th minute, following a corner to Newtongrange, Moffat dragged his shot wide of the upright. Half time: Newtongrange 0 Penicuik 0 Two minutes into the second half, a clever through ball split the Penicuik defence, but McIntosh’s shot was easily gathered by Tait. In their next attack McIntosh combined with O’Reilly, who shot wide. Nitten were well on top at this point and again came close to scoring minutes later, but again missed the target. Then at the other end, Somerville broke free but just failed to chip the ball over the keeper. In the 58th minute Penicuik took the lead. A perfectly weighted cross by Watson was volleyed first time by SOMERVILLE into the roof of the net. However, Penicuik’s lead was short lived when FERGUSON equalised with a header in the 62nd minute and McBAY tapped home from close range in the 66th minute. Penicuik equalised in the 82nd minute when a Stevenson cross was headed back across goal for SOMERVILLE to equalise with his 90th goal for Penicuik. Then five minutes later, Newtongrange got the winner when their TRIALIST slotted home into the bottom corner. Final Score: Newtongrange 3 Penicuik 2
