Conference
A.
On
a
chilly
autumn
day,
the
home
side
settled
down
after
the
early
opening
exchanges
and
provided
the
healthy crowd with an entertaining afternoon’s football taking their goals scored to 30 in their last four outings!
The
hosts
had
a
penalty
claim
after
ten
minutes
when
Ponton
went
down
in
a
tackle
as
he
was
about
to
shoot
but
referee
Mclean
waved
the
claims
away.
On
the
15-minute
mark
Forbes
found
the
back
of
the
net
but
the
assistants’
flag
was
raised
against
Kateleza,
and
the
opener
was
only
delayed
by
a
couple
of
minutes
as
the
unmarked
McINTOSH
headed
home
from
Baptie’s
corner
from
the
left.
Three
minutes
later.
Ponton
found
Kateleza
wide
on
the
right
and
his
first
time
cross
was
volleyed
home
by
MCINTOSH
,
past
the
helpless
McGinley
to
score
his
second.
The
third
arrived
on
the
half
hour
as
a
McCrory-Irving
pass
found
JONES
on
the
penalty
spot
and
he
spun
and
stretched
away
from
the
defender
to
slot
past
McGinley.
The
home
side
were
dominating
with
the
visitors
struggling
to
make
any
headway
into
opposition
territory
as
Penicuik
pressed
at
every
chance.
With
three
minutes
to
go
until
half
time
Jones
disposessed
Mein
in
the
centre
circle,
fed
Kateleza
who
found
McIntosh
wide
right
and
his
cross
was
met
by
the
onrushing
JONES
who
slotted
home
from
six
yards
to
get
his
second.
On
the
brink
of
half
time
McIntosh
was
fouled
in
the
box
and
KATELEZA
stepped
up to send McGinley the wrong way to make it five to the home side.
Half Time: Penicuik 5 Leith 0
Leith
came
out
for
the
second
half
determined
to
stop
the
onslaught
from
the
home
side
and
had
an
early
chance
as
Cordery
was
forced
to
parry
a
free
kick
from
22
yards
out.
An
early
double
substitution
saw
the
central
midfield
pair
of
Jones
and
Connolly
replaced
by
Sproule
and
MacDonald
and
the
home
side
extended
their
lead
after
56
minutes
from
a
Baptie
corner
which
saw
Hamilton’s
header
cleared
off
the
line
but
only
as
far
as
McINTOSH
who
headed
over
a
congested
goal
line
to
claim
his
second
hat
trick
of
the
season.
Ten
minutes
later
Sampson
replaced
Ponton
and
despite
dominating
possession
and
territory
they
were
kept
at
bay
until
the
84th
minute
when
McINTOSH
was
set
up
by
Sproule
who
won
possession
25
yards
out,
surged
into
the
box
and
fed
the
striker
who
tapped
home
from
inside
the
six
yard
box.
Just
into
injury
time
and
the
scoring
was
completed
as
McCRORY-IRVING
when
hewas
set
up
by
Kateleza
and
McIntosh
and fired home an exquisite curling finish from 18 yards out.
