Sauchie had the first opportunity when a poor pass was intercepted by Grant, but Hume was on hand to clear the danger. One minute later a Kateleza cross was headed by Hamilton, but straight to keeper Dolan. In the 11th minute, another defensive mistake by Penicuik gave Grant another chance but his effort went straight to Allison in goal. Minutes later a Morgan free kick was blocked but fell to McTaggart and his strike was saved by Allison at the second attempt. With Sauchie controlling the game a thirty yard strike by Morgan stung the hands of Allison who recovered quickly to gather. It took until the 20th minute before Penicuik had their first shot on goal but Connolly’s shot went a yard wide of the target. Four minutes later, a curling cross by Kelly saw both Grant and McTaggart just fail to connect. In the 34th minute, Hamilton headed wide off a corner kick. Just before half time, Somerville got the better of Syme but Hamilton headed Somerville’s cross over the bar. Half time: Sauchie 0 Penicuik 0 Two minutes into the half and a Morgan free kick was headed by Kelly but Allison saved comfortably. Minutes later, Allison watched as a Grant header looped over the bar. With Sauchie pressing hard, Allison raced from goal to deny Kelly and MacDonald blocked a second strike on goal. On the hour mark, Hamilton saw his glancing header flash just wide of the left hand post. At the other end, Grant had only the keeper to beat but his attempt went high and wide. Then keeper Dolan beat away a powerful jones shot. Penicuik almost took the lead in the 86th minute when Hume’s header off a corner kick brushed the junction of the bar and post. Into injury time and with everyone expecting a goalless draw, a superb diagonal pass split the Penicuik defence. Grant got to the bye line, cut the ball back to KELLY who stroked the ball home to take all three points for Sauchie. Final score: Sauchie 1 Penicuik 0
