From the corner, the ball was eventually cleared but play was stopped as a result of a canine intervention. After six minutes the invader was eventually cornered and play resumed. In the 20th minute Somerville set up J Hamilton who charged in on goal but Shaw was alert to the danger and rushed out to smother the ball at Hamilton’s feet. Two minutes later, Shaw could only look on as a long range volley by Jones dipped over the crossbar. However the home side took the lead when Barr tried to dribble his way out of trouble but was dispossessed and SMALL took full advantage to slot the ball passed Allison. Penicuik almost got back on level terms two minutes later, but Hamilton’s shot saw Shaw well placed to save. Then a quick break up the left by Camelon saw Young dive full length to head clear a dangerous Donaldson cross into the box. On the half hour it was Allison’s turn to rush from goal to dive at the feet of Docherty. In the 42nd minute, a McCrory-Irving free kick into the box almost resulted in a goal for Penicuik when Hamilton got in ahead of keeper Shaw but his glancing header went narrowly wide of the target. Half time: Camelon 1 Penicuik 1 In the 50th minute, Somerville opened up the home defence with a superb diagonal pass to Forbes, He raced down the wing, crossed the ball low into the six yard box where Hamilton missed the ball completely. The ball was immediately returned to the danger area where Hamilton powered in a net bound header, but again Shaw pulled off a superb save to deny the young striker. At the other end a Kane cross had Allison back pedalling as he tipped the ball away and Docherty side footed the rebound wide of the upright. Minutes later, a Somerville strike went inches wide of the post. On the hour mark, Kane had a great chance, but he dragged his effort was across the face of the goal. In the 69th minute a fine Penicuik move up the left wing and a Ponton cross into the box saw keeper Shaw get a fingertip to the ball as substitute Jamieson was set to head home. The ball fell to Forbes, but his strike from a tight angle flew over the bar. Penicuik continued to press the home defence and Hamilton again came close with a header that drifted wide of the goal. In the 86th minute, Jamieson rose above the home defence only to see his header go narrowly wide if the post. One minute later, Shaw beat away a powerful Forbes strike. In the 90th minute, Keeper Shaw again came to the rescue when he rushed out to grab the ball off the boot of Somerville. Final score: Camelon 1 Penicuik 0
