Five minutes later,  only a great tackle by Noble prevented Douglas from scoring for Newtongrange. Immediately afterwards, Doulas set up Cropley  but his powerful strike was turned round the post by Bald. In the 15th minute, a poor clearance by Bald created the best chance  of the game, but Wilson’s effort went wide of the target. Penicuik took the lead in the 20th minute when HUME sneaked in at the  back post to head home a Jancyzk free kick. Penicuik doubled their lead two minutes later when a Forbes cross picked out  LOUGH who headed home again at the back post. In the 27th minute, Penicuik had the ball in the net after Lough set up  Somerville but he was ruled offside. On the half hour, Lough headed clear a Star corner kick to Montgomery and raced up field  to collect the return pass and set up Somerville, but a last gasp tackle saved the day for the home side. Then in the 36th minute  a Jancyzk free kick deceived everyone and slid narrowly past the upright. One minute later, following a throw in to Penicuik,  Forbes crossed the ball into the heart of the Star penalty box where LOUGH nipped in ahead of Bracks to slot the ball home.   Half Time: Newtongrange 0 Penicuik 3 Newtongrange started the second half strongly and in the 51st minute, Wilson had a chance but blasted the ball high and wide  of the goal. In 57th minute, Lough saw his looping header off a deep Montgomery cross go narrowly wide. Then Cropley came  close with a strike for Newtongrange. Immediately afterwards, substitute Morris broke down the right wing and crossed the ball  into the penalty box, but Douglas failed to hit the target.  It was all Newtongrange at this point, but Penicuik defended solidly.  Then in the 77th minute, a corner to Penicuik saw Jancyzk’s cross hit Newtongrange’s YOUNG and trundle into the net for an  own goal. Two minutes later, substitute FLYNN pulled one back for the home side with a quick turn and strike into the bottom  corner of the net. FLYNN struck again within two minutes to make it 2-4, but Currie was red carded for striking keeper Bald so  what momentum the home side gained was immediately lost. Just before full time, a Lough free kick flashed inches wide of the  target. Penicuik controlled the remainder of the game and went on to a comfortable win.  Final Score: Newtongrange 2 Penicuik 4
