Penicuik were put under pressure from the kick off and the home side had the ball in the net in the 9th minute, but Keast was
ruled offside. In the 13th minute a neat passing move by Penicuik forced keeper Murphy to rush from his goal line to nip the ball
away from the feet of Somerville. Then a corner kick to the home side saw Campbell head just wide of the goal. Minutes later, a
mistake by Young allowed Keast possession, but Easton pulled off a great one handed save to deny the striker. Bo’ness
continued to pressure with Keast again coming close with a shot that went wide of the far post. However, the pressure finally
paid off for the home side when, following a free kick, the ball was headed back across goal and KEAST headed home from
close range. Two minutes later, Somerville had a half chance, but his effort went straight to keeper Murphy. In the 37th minute
Bo’ness should have doubled their lead but both Strickland and Keast fluffed their shots. Then WRIGHT cut through the
Penicuik defence in the 39th minute to make it 2-0. Two minutes later, KEAST added a third. Immediately afterwards, Penicuik
had the ball in the net, but Montgomery was ruled offside. Bo’ness went straight up the park and an unfortunate bounce of the
ball off Young fell to KEAST who took full advantage to knock the ball home.
Half Time: Bo’ness 3 Penicuik 0
In the opening minutes of the half, Penicuik were again under pressure and Strickland came close with a left foot strike. In the
57th minute, the Penicuik defence was caught out with a ball over the top of the defence and WRIGHT rounded keeper Easton
to stroke the ball into the empty net. At the other end Penicuik were unlucky not to pull a goal back when a Montgomery strike
was brilliantly saved by Murphy and the rebound was hammered by Somerville goal bound only to be cleared off the line. In the
70th minute, with Penicuik claiming offside, WRIGHT again rounded Easton to score his hat trick and Bo’ness’s fifth. Minutes
later Somerville had a shot comfortably saved by Murphy. In the 77th minute, Bo’ness should have added a sixth, but an
excellent save by Easton denied substitute Smith. With only a few minutes to go, Montgomery got past Gemmell, but his cross
into the box was hooked over the bar by Hume.
