Subs- Adam, Ramsay, Christie, Cargill,  Fleming Penicuik - Bejaoui, Devlin, Blaikie, Liddle, Young, Gay, Barr, Thomson, McCallum, Somerville, Lister. Subs- Lough, Patterson,  McDermott, White, Fraser Referee – Lorraine Clark, Assistants – Kelly Kyle and Mike Crichton Penicuik were looking to get their first ever win at The Canniepairt against a Tayport aside buoyed by their win at Newtongrange last time  out and seeking vital points in the relegation battle.  It was visitors who started on the front foot and an early Barr surge down the right  saw his cross cleared  before Tulleth, who was to be a thorn in the Cuikie’s side all day,  watched his dangerous cross being cleared by  the visitors defence in Tayport’s first foray forward. In the 7th minute McCallum saw his shot from 18 yards out crash off the bar with the  aid of a slight deflection for a corner. From the corner swung in by Gay a touch by a home defender at the front post only managed to  change the flight of the ball to the back post and McCALLUM headed home despite the despiring efforts of Sorley in the home goal. Tayport were dangerous on the break and with 18 minutes gone a desperate Liddle foul on Reid at the halfway line brought him the first  of the games many yellow cards. In the 22nd minute Tayport broke down the right and Reid saw his effort thwarted by Bejaoui at the  expense of a corner. Penicuik had a chance to double their lead when they broke quickly from a Tayport corner and as Devlin raced clear with only keeper Sorley to beat his weak effort landed on the keeper’s arms. Penicuik added to their lead in the 31st when Thomson’s  pass inside the box found SOMERVILLE and his cute back heeler from eight yards out found the back of the net. It took the home side only four minutes to get a lifeline back into the game as a Finlay cross into the front post saw TULLETH flash his  shot past Bejaoui. The final ten minutes of the half became a little towsy as Penicuik lost their early grip on the game and saw the play  punctuated by numerous stoppages, despite the referee’s best efforts to keep the game flowing. Half Time – Tayport 1 Penicuik Athletic 2  The second half started in a feisty manner as Barr was chopped down within twelve seconds of the restart and both Kay and Rollo  received yellow cards for their part in their incident. Tayport had started well and although a series of free kicks around the visitor’s box  bore no fruit the flow of the game had changed. The danger signs were there for the Cuikie as their infrequent attacks were laboured and easily broken down with Kay dominating for Tayport and home substitute Adam showed a sign of things to come as attacked on the break after a Penicuik attack broke down but fired over the bar. In the 65th minute Penicuik had a rare effort as Gay set up McCallum but he  fired weakly at Sorley. Tulleth was at the centre of the home sides attacks and two minutes later his dangerous cross flashed across the  six yard box with no takers; however the equaliser came on the 70th minute as Cavanagh won the ball and slipped a pass to TULLETH   and from 12 yards out and he beat Bejaoui with a low shot. Three minutes later the increasingly prominent Cavanagh crashed a shot off the cross bar as the home side strived for a winner. With 78  minutes gone Penicuik gave away possession deep in the Tayport half and Kay’s clearance found Tulleth and his pass released  substitute ADAM who rounded Bejaoui and managed to slot home from the left side of the box. With ten minutes to go Penicuik had a  rare chance but Somerville’s effort was blocked and the danger cleared. In the final minute Penicuik’s capitulation was complete as once  again they gave away possession deep in the Tayport half and as Elvin fed Tulleth he set ADAM racing clear between Young and Liddle  and he fired past Bejaoui to seal a valuable three points for the home side as Penicuik’s dismal record at The Canniepairt continues.
