Penicuik travelled to Albyn Park for this first game of 2016 against Broxburn Athletic. The game started brightly with the home side
coming close with a free kick and minutes later Bejaoui was drawn from his goal by Dalrymple, but the big keeper managed to get a hand
to the ball and White cleared. Then Penicuik had a great chance from a corner kick but White unmarked headed over. Penicuik found
themselves a goal down in the 12th minute when Dalrymple set up ANDERSON who drilled the ball into the far bottom corner of the net.
In the 22nd minute, Bejaoui had to rush from goal to smother the ball at the feet of Dalrymple. Five minutes later, Bejaoui was again in
action pulling off a top drawer save to deny Scott. At the other end, keeper King was relieved to see a powerful Patterson strike skim the
crossbar. In the 35th minute, a Jancyzk free kick was headed on by McCallum but Devlin’s header went straight to keeper King.
Immediately afterwards, McCallum tried a long range lob over king, but his effort went wide of the goal.

Penicuik equalised in the 50th minute when a Gay free kick was fumbled by King and DEVLIN pounced to slam the ball into the roof of
the net. However, Penicuik’s joy was short lived because, three minutes later a long throw in by Nicholas was headed high in the air by
Millar. The ball was allowed to bounce in the six yard box by the Penicuik defence and it flew over the head of Bejaoui for DALRYMPLE
to tap home. Then Devlin came close with a glancing header that went narrowly past the upright. Penicuik were pressing hard for the
equaliser and another Gay free kick had King scrambling across his goal line to tip the ball away. In the 68th minute, Anderson outpaced
the Penicuik defence only to see the ball come back off the post and cleared by White. Two minutes later, substitute Somerville was
inches away from heading home a McCallum cross. Play switched to the other end and Bejaoui had to be alert to turn a Dalrymple strike
round the post. In the 75th minute with Penicuik pressing hard, Broxburn broke quickly from defence and danger man Dalrymple saw his
shot parried by Bejaoui, but substitute Lister who had raced back at least 30 yards to cover, booted the ball clear before Nimmo could
strike. In the 83rd minute, a long range curling strike by Nicholas went just wide of the goal. Penicuik piled on the pressure looking for the
equaliser and had three efforts that came close but the home defence held out.
