In the 10th minute Bejaoui pulled off a fantastic save, turning a fierce strike from the edge of the box round the post for a corner kick to Broxburn. From the corner, Rarity got in ahead of the Penicuik defence at the front post, but his header went wide of the goal. Two minutes later, Jancyzk picked out McPartlin, but his effort went straight into the arms of keeper Maley. Then Broxburn had a shot blocked inside the box and the rebound fell to Gray but he dragged his shot wide of the post. In the 25th minute, a long range effort by McCallum went narrowly wide of the upright with Maley looking on anxiously. At the other end, Gray showed delightful skills to turn Young on the bye line, cut into the box, but his strike hit the side netting. Play was flowing from end to end, and another inch perfect diagonal ball by Jancyzk picked out McCallum who chested the ball down to Killin, but his first time strike was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Maley. In the 35th minute, Bejaoui was again in action turning away a strike by Young that bounced awkwardly in front of the keeper. Immediately afterwards, a Young free kick deceived everyone and slid past Bejaoui’s right hand post. Then a McCulloch header off a Jancyzk free kick flashed past the post. Half time: Broxburn 0 Penicuik 0 Into the second half and both teams upped the tempo of their play in search of the opening goal and it was Penicuik who made the breakthrough in the 53rd minute. A White free kick into the penalty area was poorly defended by Broxburn and following some head tennis the ball fell to CUNNISON who slotted home from the corner of the six yard box. Minutes later, McCulloch had a chance to score, but an excellent intervention by Mooney deflected the shot away for a corner kick. Once again the play swung from end to end and in the 68th minute, a strike by KEAST from the edge of the box went through a sea of legs into the bottom corner of the net for the equaliser amidst loud claims for a foul on Lister by Keast. One minute later, a Penicuik free kick picked out McCulloch who turned quickly to shoot but his effort went straight into keeper Maley’s arms. Then in the 76th minute, a neat interchange between Ross and McCallum saw Ros in space on the right and his cross to the back post picked out McPartlin. His looping header beat Maley, but Rarity was on hand to head the ball off the line. At the other end, a Broxburn free kick was curled in by Young and substitute Fairbairn got his head to the ball, but Bejaoui saved comfortably. Both sides continued to battle hard for the winning goal, but the match ended in a draw which was probably a fair result at the end of the day. Final Score: Broxburn 1 Penicuik 1
