In the opening minutes, Penicuik pressurised the visitors and Barr came close in the 3rd minute, followed immediately afterwards by a Ross header that just went wide of the target. In the 7th minute a Cunnison pass was intercepted, but the strike on goal went well wide of the goal. One minute later, Pumpherston had a chance, but Forrest shot straight at Bejaoui. At the other end, keeper Downie miskicked the ball and GAY took full advantage and coolly lobbed the keeper to open the scoring. In the 12th minute, a pinpoint cross by Barr picked out Knight at the back post, but he dragged his shot past the keeper's right hand post. Immediately afterwards, the same player should have doubled Penicuik's lead, but his glancing header again went wide of the goal. In the 25th minute, Knight went on a solo run only to see his shot beat the keeper but crash back off the post and cleared. Just before half time, a powerful net bound shot by Gay was deflected inches wide of the upright for a corner kick. Half Time: Penicuik 1 Pumpherston 0 Four minutes into the half and Penicuik doubled their lead when Knight beat his marker and cut the ball back to BARR who slotted the ball past Downie. In the 58th minute, Pumpherston were awarded a free kick just outside the Penicuik penalty box, but Adam blasted the ball high and wide of the target. Three minutes later, a free flowing passing move culminated with a strike by Ross that was deflected over the bar for a corner. In the 58th minute, the woodwork came to the rescue for Pumpherston when a McCallum shot hit the bar. Five minutes later, McCallum again hit the bar with a header, but CUNNISON  followed up to stroke home the rebound. In their next attack, a slick passing move by Penicuik was rounded off with a well taken goal by McPARTLIN. Then Gay brought out a top drawer save from keeper Downie. In the 73rd minute, Pumpherston got a consolation goal when substitute KAMARA turned his marker and scored with an excellent snap shot into the bottom corner of the net. In the dying seconds of the game, a fine run and cross by Lister saw McCallum get his head to the ball but his effort flew narrowly over the bar and Penicuik ran out comfortable winners.
