We got off to
the worst
possible start,
losing a goal
within the first
minute of the
game. Once we
woke up, we
started creating chances and it
only took us 15 mins before we
were back on level terms.
Unfortunately we were unable
to convert any of the other
chances and the half finished 1-
1.
We again started the 2nd half
poorly, coming under some
early pressure, which our back
5 just about coped with. It was
a bit end to end with both
teams pushing for a lead in the
game. It was ourselves that
managed to get our nose in
front, through an excellent
strike from Jamesy. Broughty
didn’t take long before bringing
things level again, after what
looked to me to be an obvious
foul on Dougie, the ref allowed
play to continue, Broughty got
to the goal line, put in a good
cross and headed home the
easiest of headers, very
disappointing goal to lose from
our point of view.
We continued to push for that
winner but the game ended with
a stalemate. After winning the
championship last Saturday, it
was always going to be difficult
to remain competitive during
our last couple of games, and
giving the fact we have been
playing two games a week for
what seems like forever, I think
we can forgive the players for
their last two lacklustre
performances.
Pre season friendlies
The following preseason
friendlies have been arranged
(all away from home) to allow
our pitch time to settle after
major renovation works.

Penicuik Athletic
have made two
new signings for
the coming
season. Ricky
Miller (left) spent
the early part of
his career at
Stenhousemuir
but stepped down
to play junior football before
moving back to the seniors with
Vale of Leithen and then East
Stirling FC. He is robust, no-
nonsense centre-half of the old
school variety.
Neil Jancyzk
Neil was
released by
Clyde FC after
being a
January
transfer window
signing,
bringing much-
needed
competition to the Clyde
midfield. A very experienced
player, Neil previously worked
with Jim Duffy at Brechin City.

Penicuik were rocked back
on their heels when the
visitors opened the scoring
in forty five seconds. Gary
Fraser broke up the right
wing and his low cross into
the six yard box was
stroked home by trialist
Grant Mowatt. Penicuik
gradually recovered from
the early shock and in the
15th minute, a fine run by
James McPartlin was rounded off by Gordon Harris as he
steered the ball past keeper Cormack into the net.
Penicuik took the lead in the 52nd minute, when
McPartlin’s powerful right foot strike beat keeper Cormack
all ends up and went in off the base of the upright. Fifteen
minutes later it was all square again when Ryan Dignan
glanced a header into the far corner of the net. Despite
this being a match with nothing at stake for both sides, the
crowd were served up with an excellent game of football
that was a credit to the Junior game.
