Ross, McDermott, Young, McCulloch, Lister, Killin, Gay, McCallum, Robertson, Montgomery Subs: Dickson, Barr, McPartlin, Millar, Hill Referee: Mr D Doig The game started at a high tempo and it was the home side that created the first chance in the 6th minute when they attacked up the left wing. Waters swung in a dangerous low cross into the box, but keeper Bejaoui was alert to the danger and dived down to gather the ball. Then Lally had a chance, but his twenty five yard strike went wide of the target. Penicuik took the lead in the 23rd minute when a cross from the right picked out McCALLUM who turned and with a well-controlled left foot shot beat the keeper all ends up to bring his season’s tally to twenty. On the half hour, Penicuik should have doubled their lead, but a superb one handed instinctive save by Combe denied Killin. One minute later, a quick break up the left wing by Dalkeith saw a deep cross to the back post met by Morris, however, Montgomery had matched the run and applied sufficient pressure to ensure Morris could not strike the ball on target. Minutes later a corner to the home side resulted in a glancing header skin off the roof of the net. Half Time: Dalkeith 0 Penicuik 1 Two minutes into the half and Ross gave away a silly free kick just outside the box. Fromm the free kick Main out jumped the Penicuik defence at the back post, but his powerful header flashed across the face of the goal for a bye kick. Then at the other end a neat lay off by Killin into the path of Gay saw his strike scrape past the upright with Combe beaten. In the 53rd minute, following a spell of Dalkeith pressure, Bejaoui pulled off a good save to deny the home side the equaliser they were working so hard for. Immediately afterwards, a quick break by Penicuik saw Gay again have a chance, but his shot was beaten away by Combe. Killin went for the rebound, but a superb last gasp tackle cleared the danger for a corner. In the 63rd minute, a snap shot by Morris brought out an excellent save by Bejaoui. In the 71st minute a flowing passing move by Penicuik resulted in a strike by substitute Barr, but his effort flew high over the bar. The game was put to bed in the 75th minute when McPartlin set up MONTGOMERY who slotted the ball home. Minutes later, Dalkeith substitute Haines had a chance from a corner kick but head high over the bar. In the dying seconds of the game, a quickly taken free kick by Dalkeith caught out the Penicuik defence, but the shot by Morris hit the side netting. Final score: Dalkeith 0 Penicuik 2
