Straight from the kick off Penicuik drove in on the visitor's goal and Knight showed delightful skills flicking the
ball over the defender's head only to see his first time volley brilliantly parried away by Holliday. The ball was
slipped to Barr 25 yards out but his thunderous strike whistled inches past the upright. In the 7th minute, a
mistake by Love gave Millar possession, but his effort was deflected past the post by keeper Holliday's out
stretched boot. Three minutes later, a Penicuik corner from the right was headed by Reid, blocked and then
struck inches wide of the target. in the 12th minute, in Livingston's first attack, Pagliarulo turned Meikle, but his
strike sliced wide of the target. By the 25th minute, Livingston had survived the Penicuik pressure and
attacked up the left wing from where McWilliams struck for goal , but Haldane gathered the ball at the second
attempt. Then Barr was set up with a quickly taken free kick, but his attempt flew high over the crossbar. Out
of the blue in the 32nd minute, Livingston were awarded a penalty when Reid was adjudged to have fouled
Jaconelli. JACONELLI converted the spot kick comfortably. Five minutes later, a McDermott cross was met
by Millar but he couldn't direct his header on target and another chance went a begging. In the 41st minute, a
miskick by keeper Holliday was picked up by Millar inside the box, but he dallied too long and two defenders
got back to clear the danger.
Half Time: Penicuik 0 Livingston1
Six minutes into the half and Jaconelli got past two Penicuik defenders only to see his shot well saved by
Haldane. The Penicuik defence were having a torrid time whenever the Livingston striking partnership of
Jaconelli and Pagliarulo gained possession. In the 57th minute, Jaconelli was allowed to drive in on goal with
the Penicuik defence backing off, but his shot went well wide of the target. One minute later, a good break up
the right wing saw McPartlin cross the ball to the front post where substitute Roxburgh made contact, but was
wide of the mark. In Penicuik's next attack, Patterson jinked his way past the normally resolute Livingston
defence and struck for goal, but keeper Holliday was well placed to save. Then in the 61st minute, a fine
passing move by Penicuik culminated with Patterson striking for goal, but Holliday pulled off a magnificent one
handed save. The ball was cleared to Pagliarulo who sent over a great diagonal pass to the corner of the
Penicuik penalty box where JACONELLI, in acres of space had all the time in the world to pick his spot and
curl the ball into the right hand bottom corner of the net. Five minutes later, a strike by Knight went narrowly
past the post. Haldane was back in action minutes later to tip a Livingston free kick over the bar. Penicuik
were making it easy for the visitors , giving the ball away carelessly and in the 89th minute, poor defending by
Penicuik allowed JACONELLI to complete a fine performance by scoring his hat trick. A really poor
performance by Penicuik who will have to show a huge improvement for the game on Wednesday against
Bonnyrigg Rose.
