Penicuik travelled to Glenrothes for the replay of the 1st round of the Scottish Junior Cup and the kick off was delayed by an
hour and forty minutes because of traffic delays in getting to the ground. The scheduled referee failed to get there and a
local referee was drafted in.
In the opening minute, Bald was brought into action to save a strike by McKie. Bald's clearance picked out Harvey, but his
chip over the keeper was booted clear by Shiels. In their next attack, Penicuik's Roxburgh set up Brigain, but his shot failed
to test Collier in goal. Penicuik took the lead in the 14th minute when a penalty was awarded after Knight was fouled in the
box. Collier saved Barr's spot kick, but BARR followed up to slot the ball into the net. Five minutes later, Penicuik doubled
their lead when BARR won the ball in midfield, drove forward and his 25 yard strike squirmed through the hands of Collier
into the back of the net. Penicuik continued to look comfortably in control of the game until the last fifteen minutes of the half
when they took the foot off the pedal. Glenrothes upped the pace of their game, but a resolute Penicuik defence coped with
everything that was thrown at them and preserved their two goal lead at half time.

In the 54th minute, Penicuik lost possession just outside their own penalty box and Bald looked on anxiously as the ball
flashed past his left hand post. Shortly afterwards, Then Thomson for Penicuik saw his left foot strike go inches past
Collier's right hand post. In the 67th minute, McKie attacked up the right wing for Glenrothes, cut back a great cross into the
box, but there were no takers for the home side. With fifteen minutes to go, Glenrothes went to three at the back, pushing
another man up front to put more pressure on the Penicuik defence who continued to defend solidly. In the 85th minute a
long range effort by Martin was inches off target. Three minutes later, a cross from the left by Shaw was just missed by
Martin and the ball crashed back off the upright and was cleared. At the other end, with Glenrothes fully committed to attack,
they were caught out by a long ball, but keeper Collier rushed out to nip the ball away from Roxburgh. The play swung
quickly to the other end where Bald was well positioned to save a strike by McKie. On the 90 minutes, a superb last gasp
tackle by Cunnison denied substitute Campbell a strike from ten yards. With Glenrothes pushing forward, they were caught
short at the back by a ball from defence that picked out Roxburgh on the halfway line. He raced toward goal and slipped the
ball to DRAPER who took one touch, looked up and, as Collier rushed from goal, he chipped the ball over him into the net to
seal the result.
