However, it was Edinburgh who were the first to create a chance when a cross to the back post was headed wide of the target by Robertson. Immediately afterwards, a pinpoint pass by McPartlin picked out Roxburgh, but his well hit shot pulled out a great save from keeper Sorley. In the 14th minute, some nifty skills by Knight allowed him space to shoot, but his effort was deflected narrowly past the post. Ten minutes later, a great move by Penicuik saw Killin back heel the ball to Knight, only to see his powerful shot was well saved by Sorley. Then in the 23rd minute, Knight's pace got him past the trialist right back who tripped him in the penalty box. BARR expertly converted the spot kick. Penicuik were now piling on the pressure and a series of corner kicks saw a Barr volley deflected inches wide of the target. In the 37th minute, a mistake by Meikle, when he played the ball across the edge of his penalty box, allowed Cockburn to intercept the pass, but fortunately for Penicuik his strike flew over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, a flowing move by Penicuik culminated with a powerful Knight shot that keeper Sorley did exceptionally well to save. The half finished with a sweeping move down the left wing where Knight sent over a superb low cross along the six yard box, but no one was able to get a touch on the ball to score. Half Time: Penicuik 1 Edinburgh 0 Two minutes into the second half, a mistake by Meikle gave possession away to ROBERTSON who took full advantage and drove the ball past Bald into the bottom corner of the net. Four minutes later, a McPartlin cross was headed inches past the keeper's right hand post by Gay. In the 56th minute, Gallagher nut megged Newall but his cross was headed over the bar by Knight. Three minutes later, Penicuik broke quickly from defence and Roxburgh got past his marker only to be pulled down in the box by keeper Sorley. BARR again converted the penalty kick. From the restart, Bald pulled off a great save to deny Robertson. In the 66th minute, Bald was again in action to save a fine strike from outside the penalty box. Four minutes later, Bald again was well placed to save a shot from the corner of the penalty box. Then from Bald's long clearance, Roxburgh outpaced Blair, but with only the keeper to beat, his lob dipped over the crossbar. In the 72nd minute, a dangerous cross into the box by Smith was met first time by Brigain, but Sorley pulled of a superb save to deny the striker. Five minutes later, excellent work by Knight set up substitute Smith, but his strike clipped the base of the post and went past for a goal kick. In Penicuik's next attack, a Roxburgh strike was deflected inches past the post with Sorley beaten. In the 84th minute, a Gay free kick was bouncing about in the Edinburgh penalty area when BRIGAIN turned quickly and slotted the ball past Sorley to seal the points for Penicuik. Shortly afterwards, a nice pass from midfield picked out Knight and as he ran through he was pulled back on the edge of the penalty box by the Edinburgh trialist who was booked for the foul. From the free kick taken by Brigain, Sorley pulled off another great save to turn the ball round the post for a corner. In the 91st minute, the Edinburgh trialist booked minutes before, received a second yellow card for a foul on Knight. From the free kick, Smith's strike was deflected inches over the bar for a corner. Final Score: Penicuik 3 Edinburgh 1
