In the opening 30 seconds, Bald came to the rescue for Penicuik when he dived low down to his right to finger tip Adam's
strike round the post for a corner kick. The home side came at Penicuik in the opening ten minutes, but Penicuik weathered
the initial Ballingry pressure and gradually worked their way into the game. However, in the 26th minute, Adam again caused
problems for the Penicuik defence when he was allowed to drive in on goal but was denied for the second time with another a
great save by Bald. Ten minutes later, Penicuik broke up the left wing where O'Reilly and Roxburgh combined well allowing
Roxburgh to send a dangerous cross into the box. McPartlin just failed to connect, but Knight took over only to see his strike
flash inches past the post with keeper Smith beaten. Penicuik were now in control of the game, but could not find a way to
breach the Ballingry defence and the half ended goalless.
Half Time Ballingry 0 Penicuik 0
Four minutes into the half, Penicuik broke down the right and Roxburgh cut the ball back to the edge of the box from where
Barr blasted the ball high over the crossbar. At the other end, Adam saw his shot deflected inches past the post by Meikle.
Then Penicuik started to turn on the pressure and in the 58th minute a Brigain free kick was tipped over the crossbar by
Smith. Four minutes later, a McDermott corner kick was only partially cleared and returned into the box where ROXBURGH
slammed the ball home from ten yards much to the delight of the Penicuik players and fans. In the 68th minute another fine
move by Penicuik, started by Roxburgh, saw O'Reilly's strike slide inches past the upright. Then in the 75th minute, Roxburgh,
who was giving the Ballingry defence a torrid time, was adjudged to have been fouled in the box. BARR competently
despatched the spot kick. In their next attack, Penicuik had a great chance but O'Reilly was denied by Smith who blocked his
strike with his leg. Shortly afterwards, following another McDermott corner kick, Brigain dragged his shot narrowly wide of the
target. The game and the points were sealed for Penicuik in the 86th minute. Roxburgh turned his marker beautifully, raced
down the right wing and laid the ball off to O'Reilly in the box. He in turn slipped the ball to his left, taking out the last defender
and into the path of substitute THOMSON who coolly blasted the ball past Smith with his first touch of the game.
