From the kick off Broxburn went on the attack, and Bald had to look lively to save a header from inside the six yard box. Two
minutes later, Harvey was free on the keeper, but his effort went over the bar. Immediately afterwards a strike by Harvey
went agonisingly past the post with Maley beaten. In the 17th minute Shields came close with a shot that went just wide of
the target. Penicuik were denied a stonewall penalty when Barr was barged off the ball after beating his man, but despite
having a clear view of the incident the referee was unmoved.
In the 25th minute, Wilson had a strike on goal blocked by Bald’s feet and the rebound fell again to Wilson, but this time his
effort was driven straight at Bald who saved comfortably. Shortly afterwards, Bald was again called into action to deny Millar.
The play was swinging from end to end and Killin waltzed past three defenders only to see his strike well saved by Maley. In
the 36th minute a thunderous shot by Gay was tipped over the bar by Maley. Then followed two corner kicks, the first of
which was tipped away by Maley for a corner from which Penicuik saw the ball crash back off the bar and cleared. Penicuik
then had a strong penalty turned down when McKay’s low cross was blocked by the defender’s hand for a corner.

Four minutes into the half and Bald pulled off a great save to deny Jeffrey. With the wind behind them, Broxburn were putting
pressure on the Penicuik back four with long balls over the top, but it was Penicuik who had the first chance to take the lead
when, after good work by Brigain, Harvey was inches away from tapping home the low cross through the six yard box. Then
in the 58th minute, Broxburn took the lead when WILSON, driving in from the left let fly with an unstoppable shot that fairly
flew past Bald into the net.
However, five minutes later Penicuik should have equalised when Brigain chipped the ball over the defence to pick out
Harvey. With only keeper Maley to beat, he knocked the ball over the bar from ten yards.. Then from the wind assisted goal
kick, MILLAR got a glancing header on the ball just outside the penalty box and as a result the ball slipped through past
Meikle and Bald and trundled into the empty net.. The points were sealed for Broxburn in the 69th minute when a SHIELDS
strike from 25 yards went into the bottom corner of the net past the diving Bald.
