The final action against Fauldhouse United

Montgomery strike ensures Penicuik's Premier League status

A superb 35 yard strike by Ross Montgomery one minute into the second half secured Penicuik's Premier League status. After a fairly even first half Monty's goal set up Penicuik for a victory at Recreation Park St Andrews. The hosts worked hard but could not breakdown a resolute Penicuik defence. Saints Stephen Fraser got his marching orders after a second booking with only minutes to go and Penicuik ran out comfortable winners.  Click here for the full match report.

Craig's view vs Fauldhouse

What were your thoughts on our first 3 league wins on the bounce?

It just goes to show we can do it when we really want and what a great time to do it, it was vital victories that have seen us secure our place in the Premier league and has seen us climb from the relegation zone to mid table. Also great to finish the season on a high and hopefully send out the message as to what people can expect next season.

We've finished the season on 28pts, is this a fair reflection of the season?

It's a fair reflection on how badly we have under achieved in both the league and the cup competitions this season, don't get me wrong if you could have offered me that at Christmas I would of bit your hand off but it certainly doesn't match the clubs expectations at the start of the season. As the biggest football club in Midlothian (outside Hearts and Hibs) it's simply not good enough and next season we must do far better.

You and Bryan have done an excellent job since taking over as managers but how have you enjoyed the experience so far?

Firstly Bryan and I were delighted with the opportunity the club gave us and for the faith they have shown in us. We've had a few sleepless nights but apart from that have thoroughly enjoyed the job thus far. The reaction from the players was superb which made things easier, they have done everything Bryan and I have asked of them and apart from a couple of poor results, have performed at a consistantly high level since Christmas. We are now fully focused on strengthening our squad so that we can compete at the top end of the table next season.
