TONY BEGG INTERVIEW VS INVERKEITHING IMPORTANT CLUB STATEMENT - RE FANS AT GAMES Penicuik Athletic FC are fully supportive of the Government efforts to combat Covid-19 and have a great appreciation of how difficult a job the Scottish Government have to balance health and the economy, and the sacrifices that people are making to fight this virus. The club is proud to have played its part in suppressing the first wave of the virus by following the guidance received from all sources, however we are now facing a fight for our very survival if fans are not allowed in to watch games. Football at the level we play, faces the biggest crisis in 70 years and our club the biggest challenge since going into ‘abeyance’ in 1991. Our industry sector is being denied the right to trade, due to the refusal to let fans watch games, whilst just over the border in England clubs at similar levels are allowed supporters into the match, properly physically distanced with fans wearing face coverings. READ MORE CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT - RETURN TO PLAYING In accordance with Phase 3 of the Scottish Governments Covid 19 response, the club makes a welcome return to playing next week with a series of friendlies arranged. These games will be played under very strict protocols and will be played behind closed doors with no Spectators allowed. In line with the guidance provided we will not be publicly advertising these games but will keep supporters and all those interested with full time updates and reports on our Social Media channels as well as match highlights from PenicuikAthTV where possible. Whilst we understand that supporters would like to see their team play again we would ask that supporters stay away from the grounds where matches are being played as any breach of the protocols will put at risk our return to friendlies, our return to competitive football and ultimately the return of spectators. Thanks for your support and hope to see you back at Penicuik Park soon SOCCER SHOP CHALLENGE CUP Penicuik have received a bye in the first round and are drawn away in the second round on 21st November to Gretna 1988.
