Tynecastle 0 Penicuik 5 Penicuik :   Watt,   O’Donnell,   Baptie,   Page,   Connolly   (c),   Watson,   Tansey,   Ponton,   Sampson,   Stevenson,   Forbes   Subs: Somerville, Swain, Williams, Tickle Penicuik   travelled   to Ainslie   Park   to   play   the   second   friendly   of   the   season   against   Tynecastle   FC   and   turned   on   the   style to   earn   a   resounding   victory.   The   opening   minutes   saw   Tynecastle   display   some   excellent   possession   football   but   they failed   to   break   down   a   solid   Penicuik   defence.   Penicuik   opened   the   scoring   in   the   14th   minute   when Tansey   got   the   better of   the   home   defence   and   crossed   the   ball   into   the   box.   Sampson’s   first   time   header   was   brilliantly   saved   by   keeper Jackson,   but   SAMPSON    followed   up   to   slot   home   the   rebound.   Penicuik   took   control   of   the   game   and   doubled   their   lead in   the   28th   minute,   following   a   Baptie   corner   kick,   the   ball   fell   to   new   signing,   O’DONNELL    at   the   edge   of   the   penalty   area, and   drilled   the   ball   home   for   his   first   goal   in   Cuikie   colours.   Penicuik   continued   to   dominate   with   Tansey,   Stevenson   and Ponton   outstanding,   and   Tansey   was   picked   out   by   a   great   pass   from   Watson   but   was   denied   by   the   crossbar   after lobbing   keeper   Jackson.   The   woodwork   came   to   the   rescue   again   for   Tynecastle   when   Stevenson’s   curling   free   kick crashed back off the post with Jackson well beaten Half Time: Tynecastle 0 Penicuik 2 Tynecastle   found   it   hard   to   keep   possession   as   Penicuik   quickly   closed   them   down.   However   it   took   until   the   65th   minute before   Penicuik   increased   their   lead   when   goal   scorer   O’Donnell   became   provider   with   a   curling   cross   into   the   box   from where   TANSEY   bulleted   a   header   into   the   top   corner   of   the   net.   Eight   minutes   later   it   was   four   for   Penicuik   and   two   for TANSEY   as   he   rounded   the   keeper   to   slot   home.   The   scoring   was   completed   in   the   83rd   minute   when   Ponton   outpaced the   full   back   to   cross   the   ball   to   the   back   post   and   CONNOLLY’s   diving   header   hit   the   back   of   the   net. All   in   all,   it   was   an excellent preseason performance by Penicuik, with the new signings showing up well. Final Score: Tynecastle 0 Penicuik 5
