the

of
the
season
against

FC
and
turned
on
the
style
to
earn
a
resounding
victory.
The
opening
minutes
saw
Tynecastle
display
some
excellent
possession
football
but
they
failed
to
break
down
a
solid
Penicuik
defence.
Penicuik

home
defence
and
crossed

into
the
box.
Sampson’s
first
time

was
brilliantly
saved
by

but
SAMPSON

up
to

home
the
rebound.
Penicuik
took
control
of
the
game
and
doubled
their
lead
in
the
28th
minute,
following
a
Baptie
corner
kick,
the
ball
fell
to
new

O’DONNELL
at
the
edge
of
the
penalty
area,
and
drilled
the
ball
home
for
his
first
goal
in
Cuikie
colours.
Penicuik
continued
to
dominate
with
Tansey,
Stevenson
and
Ponton
outstanding,
and
Tansey
was
picked
out
by
a
great
pass
from
Watson
but
was
denied
by
the
crossbar
after
lobbing
keeper
Jackson.
The
woodwork
came
to
the
rescue
again
for
Tynecastle
when
Stevenson’s

kick
crashed back off the post with Jackson well beaten
Half Time: Tynecastle 0 Penicuik 2
Tynecastle
found
it
hard
to
keep
possession
as
Penicuik
quickly
closed
them
down.
However
it
took
until
the
65th
minute
before
Penicuik
increased
their
lead
when
goal
scorer
O’Donnell
became
provider
with
a
curling
cross
into
the
box
from
where
TANSEY
bulleted
a
header
into
the
top
corner
of
the
net.
Eight
minutes
later
it
was
four
for
Penicuik
and
two
for
TANSEY
as
he
rounded
the
keeper
to
slot
home.
The
scoring
was
completed
in
the
83rd
minute
when

outpaced
the

back
to
cross
the
ball
to
the
back
post
and
CONNOLLY’s
diving
header
hit
the
back
of
the
net.
All
in
all,
it
was
an
excellent preseason performance by Penicuik, with the new signings showing up well.
