FULL PLAYING SQUAD SEASON 20/21 AND LATEST SIGNINGS We are delighted to announce the majority of last season’s playing squad have extended their stays at Penicuik Park for season 2020/21 with only Sam Jones and Scott McCrory-Irving leaving the club. CLICK HERE for all the details. LATEST TEAM NEWS We can confirm that midfielder Scott McCrory- Irving will leave Penicuik Athletic upon the expiry of his contract. The club did offer Scott a new contract but he has decided to explore new opportunities. Scott joined the club from Edinburgh University at the beginning of season 2017/18, scoring his first goal in a Midlothian Derby win against Newtongrange in just his second match. He played his part in the East of Scotland Cup victory against Tranent, his corner delivery leading to Craig Hume’s opening goal. READ MORE PRE WAR AUTOGRAPHS PENICUIK ATHLETIC Ian McConnel, was recently loaned an autograph book belonging to a 90 year old gentleman (Mr Bobby Johnstone) of his acquaintance. The book covers the seasons 1937-38 to 1938-39. It was given to him by his Grandfather who knew Tommy Walker the Hearts player & Scottish Internationalist. Mr Walker was kind enough to take it to every game he played in those seasons and get the opposition to sign it for the young Bobby. The book has over 30 teams within its pages, ranging from Scotland international teams to Junior teams. Included within the book is the Penicuik Athletic team that played Hearts in the Scottish Cup 1st Round on 21/1/39. All 11 Penicuik players that day signed the book including some names such as William Ure, Quigg, Cuthbert, Batchelor etc. As you may know it wasn’t the greatest of days for Penicuik as they lost 14- 2. Nevertheless a quite historic day for the Athletic.
