Dundonald
were
quick
off
the
mark
and
keeper
Watt
had
to
be
alert
to
save
an
opening
minute
strike
by
Cargill.
Immediately
afterwards
a
free
kick
to
Penicuik
was
headed
narrowly
wide
by
Forbes.
Then
a
long
rang
effort
by
Cargill
went
wide
of
the
target.
Penicuik
took
the
lead
in
the
12th
minute
when
Tansey
got
round
the
back
of
the
home
defence,
cut
the
ball
back
to
Sam
JONES
who
had
an
easy
tap
in.
Shortly
afterwards,
a
long
range
strike
by
Tansey
was
well
held
by
keeper
Lennox.
With
Penicuik
in
charge,
Tansey
sent
over
a
testing
cross
into
the
box
but
with
Stewart
rushing
in
to
head
home,
Lennox
came
to
the
rescue
to
cut
out
the
cross.
Then
a
slick
passing
move
by
Penicuik
was
rounded
off
with
a
powerful
Tansey
shot,
but
again
Lennox
came
to
the
rescue
with
a
great
one
handed
save.
Dundonald
relied
on
the
long ball, but the Penicuik defence dealt with each and every one thrown at them.
Half Time: Dundonald 0 Penicuik 1
Penicuik
doubled
their
lead
in
the
53rd
minute
when
a
wicked
Baptie
free
kick
was
headed
home
by
Sean
STEWART
at
the
front
post.
On
the
hour
mark,
a
Baptie
corner
went
all
the
way
to
Forbes
at
the
back
post
but
his
cut
back
missed
everyone
before
the
Baptie
fired
high
over
the
bar.
Five
minutes
later,
a
ball
was
fizzed
into
Tansey
and
he
did
well
to
turn
his
man
but
his
strike
went
just
wide
of
the
post.
Penicuik
added
a
third
in
the
68th
minute
when
Stewart
beat
his
man
and
cut
the
ball
back
for
Arran
PONTON
to
smash
home
the
third,
low
into
the
bottom
corner.
Penicuik
seemed
to
ease
off
after
the
third
goal
and
Dundonald
came
back
into
the
game
pulling
a
goal
back
in
73rd
minute
through
Ross
DRUMMOND
.
Three
minutes
later,
the
home
side
got
it
back
to
2-3
when
Michael
NESS
slammed
the
ball
past
Watt
ensuring
an
interesting
last
quarter
of
an
hour.
In
the
78th
minute,
Watt
did
well,
diving
low
down
to
his
left
to
save.
Penicuik saw out the remaining minutes comfortably.
