We are delighted to confirm Club Captain and striker Aaron Somerville has extended his
contract for a fifth season at Penicuik Park. Summy joined us in 2015 from Whitehill Welfare
and has gone on to make 129 appearances, scoring 74 times, the club’s second highest scorer
of the modern era, leading us to the Conference A title, as well as collecting Fife & Lothians and
East of Scotland Cup winners medals. See you next season Summy!
We can confirm that defender Gary Hamilton has left Penicuik. Signed from Newtongrange
Star prior to the start of the 2017/18 season, Hammy played 27 times in his debut season at
Penicuik Park, most notably scoring a last gasp equaliser against Broxburn Athletic and being
part of the East of Scotland Cup winning squad. This season Hammy would make a further 12
appearances, due to increased work commitments, also spending a month on loan at Whitehill
Welfare. Overall Gary played 39 times for the Cuikie, scoring once. Everyone at the club
wishes Gary all the very best in the future and thank you for your time at Penicuik.
We can confirm that midfielder Wayne Sproule has left Penicuik. Signed from Haddington
Athletic in the summer of 2016, Wayne cemented his place on the right side of the midfield,
scoring an early goal of the season contender against Hill of Beath. He missed the majority of
the second half of that campaign while travelling the world, returning in time to appear in our
final two matches that season. Unfortunately his second season at the club was plagued by
injury, with Wayne missing all but the last minute of the season, coming on as a last minute
substitute in the East of Scotland Cup victory. This season Wayne would go on to make
twenty two appearances, scoring twice, playing his part in our successful Conference A
campaign. Overall Wayne played 43 times for the Cuikie, scoring five times. Everyone at the club wishes Wayne all the very
best in the future and thank you for your time at Penicuik.
We are delighted to confirm defender Ryan Baptie has extended his contract for a third
season at Penicuik Park. Ryan signed for us prior to season 2017/18 and a promising
preseason ended sadly with Ryan suffering a broken leg in our final match. He returned the
following January and finally marked his competitor debut with a goal against Dundonald
before spending a short loan spell at Haddington. Last season he made 39 appearances and
scored 3 times, including a goal of the season contender against Musselburgh, and notably
finished top of the assists table, setting up 20 goals from left back. See you next season
Baptie!
We are delighted to confirm striker Kyle Sampson has extended his contract for a third
season at Penicuik Park. Kyle initially joined Penicuik on loan from Livingston in January
2017, bagging his first goal for the Cuikie in a 3-1 win away at Linlithgow, before coming off
the bench in the East of Scotland Cup Final win at the same venue, then signing a
permanent deal that summer. This past season saw Kyle rack up a further 32 appearances
and 9 goals, including his first Penicuik hat-trick against Hawick, to take his overall record to
48 appearances and 13 goals. See you next season Kyle!
We are delighted to confirm midfielder Sam Jones has extended his contract for a fourth
season at Penicuik Park. Sam’s spell at Penicuik Park began with a loan spell from Berwick
Rangers in 2016, making his debut in March against Musselburgh Athletic, signing on
permanently that summer. Sam’s second season saw him bag his first goal against
Bonnyrigg as his displays from midfield helped Penicuik to their East of Scotland Cup Final
win at the end of that season. Last season Sam had his most prolific season at Penicuik to
date, bagging 19 goals from midfield in our successful Conference A campaign, as well as
captaining the side for the first time in the League Cup tie at Dalkeith. Overall Sam has
pulled on the blue and white (sometimes red) 94 times, finding the back of the net 27 times. See you next season Sam!
We are delighted to confirm defender Daz Young has extended his contract for a seventh
season at Penicuik Park. Dawson joined Penicuik at the beginning of 2013/04 from
Bonnyrigg Rose ‘A’ and is the most decorated player in the club’s modern history with
Premier League, Fife & Lothians, East of Scotland and Conference A triumphs on his CV -
including a goal in the F&L Final and a man of the match display in the EOS Final. Darrell
has played 204 times for the Cuikie, joining the modern day 200 Club last season, and has
scored 17 times. See you next season Dawson!
We are delighted to confirm midfielder Scott McCrory-Irving has extended his contract for a
third season at Penicuik Park. Scotty signed for us in 2017 from Edinburgh University and
scored his first Cuikie goal in his second appearance against Newtongrange. He went on to
make 39 appearances that season and claimed an assist in the East of Scotland Cup Final
win. This past season saw Scott add a further 40 appearances with six goals, including the
equaliser against Musselburgh which sealed the Conference A title. See you next season
Scotty!
We are delighted to confirm defender Jordan Caddow has extended his contract for a
second season at Penicuik Park. Jordan joined Penicuik last summer from Dalkeith Thistle
and made his debut against Oakley in the Alex Jack Cup in August. His first Penicuik goals
came in January, bagging two against Coldstream in the South Challenge Cup. He would
score another two goals which would be goal of the season Contenders, taking his tally to
4 goals from 30 appearances. See you next season Caddow!
We are delighted to confirm midfielder Arran Ponton has extended his contract for a third
season at Penicuik Park. Azza made the move to Penicuik Park at the beginning of the
2017/18 season from Haddington Athletic, ending the season with an East of Scotland
Cup winners medal and four goals from thirty-three appearances. Last season, he added
a further thirty-eight appearances and nine goals, scoring Penicuik’s final and 154th goal
of the campaign in last Saturday’s match against Linlithgow. See you next season Azza!
We can confirm that goalkeeper Thomas Cordery has left Penicuik. Joining from East Fife
in February 2018, having previously played for us as a Trialist in 2016, Tam made his
official Penicuik debut against Kennoway Star Hearts that month and made four more
appearances that season, including a 13 minute spell as a striker up at Forfar, ending the
season with a East of Scotland Cup winners medal. This past season saw Tam make a
further 26 appearances with 10 clean sheets as he helped us to the Conference A title,
giving him an overall record of 32 appearances for the Cuikie with ten clean sheets and
two medals. Everyone at the club wishes Tam all the very best in the future and thank you for your time at Penicuik.
We are delighted to confirm midfielder Steven Notman is staying for a second season at
Penicuik Park. Steven began his spell at Penicuik Park in January with a goal on his
debut against Stirling University in the FNQ Cup, making eleven appearances before
season’s end, and bagging a goal of the season contender against Oakley. See you next
season Notty!
We are delighted to confirm defender Greg Page is staying for a second season at
Penicuik Park. Greg made the move to Penicuik from Tynecastle in November and quickly
settled into a partnership with Darrell Young at Centre half, making eighteen appearances
and chipping in with two assists. See you next season Pagey!
We are delighted to confirm defender Craig Stevenson is staying for a second season at
Penicuik Park. Craig signed for the Cuikie last December from Spartans, and showed his
class with a number of man of the match awards over his 16 appearances, scoring 3 times
as well as racking up 9 assists. See you next season Grinchy!
We are delighted to confirm goalkeeper Robert Watt is staying for a second season at
Penicuik Park. Robert joined us in March from Tynecastle and established himself as our
number 1 for the run-in, playing 11 times and keeping 4 clean sheets.
See you next season Rab!
We are delighted to confirm defender John Williams has extended his contract for a third
season at Penicuik Park. John joined the Cuikie in 2017 from Whitehill Welfare and became
a mainstay in our defence, making thirty-two appearances, with late season injury problems
limiting him from more. Sadly these niggling injuries carried into last season with John
making twenty appearances, though his first Penicuik goal came in the opening
Championship playoff, a header against Broxburn to open the scoring. See you next season
JW!
