Penicuik started at a high tempo and in the 4th minute they got off to a flier when keeper Renton punched a Forbes cross away
but fell to McCRORY-IRVING who stroked the ball into the net from twelve yards. In the 15th minute Penicuik were awarded a
penalty but Lough’s spot kick was well saved by keeper Renton. Six minutes later, another attack by Penicuik saw a cross into
the box headed wide by Hamilton. On the half-hour Newtongrange attacked up the left wing and a testing cross came back off
the crossbar and cleared. Three minutes later, with the Star having their best spell in the game, a pin point diagonal cross
picked out former Penicuik player Kyle Scott, but his first time strike flew high over the crossbar.
Half Time: Penicuik 1 Newtongrange 0
Five minutes into the second half and a strike by Scott kept keeper Allison on his toes. In the 57th minute another attack by
Newtongrange saw Wilson’s powerful shot well held by you Allison. Then in the 63rd minute a quick attack by Penicuik and a
defence splitting pass by McCrory-Irving set up HAMILTON who outpaced the Newtongrange defence and drilled the ball past
the advancing keeper. In the 75th minute an excellent move by the visitors broke through the Penicuik defence and the low
cross along the six yard box set up Scott but somehow he contrived to knock the ball over the bar when it seemed easier to
score. Just before full time, the Scott brothers combined again but this time the effort on goal was well covered by keeper
Allison.
