Jeanfield started brightly playing some attractive possession football and were the first to create a scoring opportunity in the 17th minute. Reid lost possession in his own half and Davies took full advantage of the error, but his strike on goal was well covered by keeper Allison. Immediately afterwards, Jamieson had a great chance to score for Penicuik, but a moment’s hesitation saw the opportunity lost. Jeanfield took the lead in the 26th minute when DAVIES slammed the ball into the roof of the net giving Allison no chance. Penicuik struggled to get into the game with their normal passing game well below par and Jeanfield looked comfortable on the ball but couldn’t add to their tally before half time. Half Time: Penicuik 0 Jeanfield 1 In the opening minute, Jeanfield attacked the home defence and a strike from the edge of the penalty box flashed inches wide of Allison left hand post. Then a searching cross from the left was headed narrowly over the bar by Davies. Immediate afterwards Allison came to the rescue to deny the same player who was proving to be a hot handful for the Penicuik defence. Minutes later, Davies again tested the Penicuik defence rising to head a corner kick just over the bar. The closest Penicuik came to scoring was when MacDonald’s shot went narrowly wide of the upright with keeper Mitchell looking on anxiously. The game was put to bed in the 79th minute when a tremendous strike from the corner of the Penalty box by HOLDEN screamed into the top corner of the net.   Final Score: Penicuik 0 Jeanfield 2
