Again, after another herculean effort by committee and supporters, the game went ahead following an early pitch
inspection. Both sides used the opening minutes to get used to the soft underfoot conditions and in the 8th minute
Jamieson saw his overhead kick go straight into the hands of keeper Hall. Then a MacDonald pass set up Jones but Hall
rushed from goal to smother the ball. On the quarter hour, a mistake by Ponton saw him lose possession and Allison had
to be at his best to beat away a powerful strike from the edge of the box. From the corner, Conners rose above the
Penicuik defence, but his header flashed inches wide of the target. Two minutes later, a Smith shot was comfortably
saved by Allison. In the 25th minute, clever footwork by Kateleza saw his testing cross chested into the hands of Hall at
the front post. Then a great chance for Penicuik when Jones broke through the defence, but a superb last gasp tackle
Wright blocked the midfielder’s shot. On the half hour, a strong run and cross by Jones was met by Kateleza but his
glancing header was gathered comfortably by Hall. Seconds later, a powerful strike by Jamieson beat keeper Hall but the
ball crashed back off the cross bar and cleared. Just before half time, Hall pulled off an instinctive one handed save to
deny Jamieson. Then Ponton was inches away from putting the final touch to a Kateleza cross.

Minutes into the second half and Allison had to rush from goal to block an Adamson strike. Immediately afterwards, it was
keeper Hall who came to the rescue for the visitors when he did exceptionally well to cut out a dangerous MacDonald
cross. In the 54th minute, Allan got round the back of the Penicuik defence and again Allison was on the spot to block the
shot for a throw in to the Haws. Minutes later, with Hill of Beath exerting pressure, a shot from the left of the penalty box
flashed across the goal and narrowly wide of the far post. Penicuik took the lead in the 61st minute when a fine passing
move was finished off by JONES when he drilled the ball low into the bottom corner of the net. However, Penicuik’s joy
was short lived when an excellent pass from midfield set Adamson free on the right and his low cross along the six yard
box was slotted home by WATT. In the 85th minute a Baptie corner kick was cleared to the edge of the box, driven back
in, blocked and fell to Kateleza but his effort clipped the top of the bar to no avail as a free kick had been awarded.
