After the  visitors had the first shot at goal in the 4th minute when McKenzie blasted over the home took control dominating  possession, and set the tone for the whole 90 minutes. The first chance fell in nine minutes to Somerville after Kateleza’s  clever footwork played in the striker but his low shot was held by Forfar keeper Burns at the second attempt and two  minutes later McCrory-Irving hit the side netting. A minute later the keeper produced the first of many outstanding saves  as he denied McCrory-Irving at close range before the same player shot over from 22 yards. In an isolated foray into the  home half Scott forced Allison into making a save as he drove into the box and shot from 16 yards before play swept to  the other end and Jamieson saw his effort turned around the post by Burns for a corner, in the 25th minute McCrory-Irving  won possession and drove forward but his 20 yard curling effort went narrowly over the bar. On the hour half mark  McDonald drove into the box and fed Jamieson whose shot was saved by Burns with an outstretched leg, and a minute  later Jones fizzed one over the bar closely followed by a Kateleza effort that went wide. It was one-way traffic but the  sides went in at half time level.   Half Time Penicuik 0 Forfar 0  The second half started in a similar vein to the first with the visitors making a foray into the Penicuik box but the danger  was cleared and with 56 minutes clever interplay between Barr, McDonald and Kateleza saw Barr burst into the box only  to see his effort deflected for a corner. From the resultant corner Somerville’s net bound shot hit Kateleza in the mid drift  three yards from goal and floored the striker. Manager Harvey shuffled his pack in a bid to make the breakthrough and  Montgomery replaced Hamilton on the hour mark as the home went to three at the back and it almost paid off immediately  as mark McCrory-Irving’s little dink over the top set up Barr and his fierce volley was saved by Scott. The home attack  was relentless and Somerville fed Jamieson and the big striker saw his shoot cleared for a corner with Burns beaten  before Somerville himself saw his effort headed clear. The home side pummelled the visitors goal with constant waves of  attacks and had a strong claim for a penalty in the 69th minute when a Kateleza shot was stopped on the goal line by the  arm of a defender, but referee Luke waved play on. Mendes replaced McCrory-Irving a minute later just in time to see  Jamieson’s header across goal eluding Kateleza and scraping past the upright. The breakthrough came a minute later as  KATELEZA got on the score sheet as he latched on to a loose ball 16 yards out and fired low past the despairing Scott.  In the 75th minute a passing move between Barr, Jones and Montgomery set up Somerville but his volley from 22 yards  out was easily held by Burns. Internationalist Forbes came on for Jamieson with ten minutes left and two minutes later  Somerville fired another shot goal wards but Scott held it at the second attempt. With a minute left Jones’ effort from 16  yards was deflected narrowly past for a corner by a defenders outstretched boot.  Final Score: Penicuik 1 Forfar 0
