Penicuik opened the scoring in the 7th minute when Aaron SOMERVILLE slotted home a penalty kick sending the keeper the wrong way. Five minutes later Forbes made it 0 -2 after excellent work by Barr. In the 16th minute Hamilton rose above the defence to power in a header but keeper Davidson saved at the second attempt. Penicuik were in total control of the game and in the 23rd minute both Barr and Hamilton had goal bound shots blocked. However the next goal was it long away and HAMILTON rose above the Brechin defence to head home in the 25th minute. Shortly afterwards a defence splitting pass by McCrory-Irving set up HAMILTON and keeper Davidson failed to hold the striker’s shot to make it 0-4. In the 38th minute a driving run up the left wing by MacDonald saw Hamilton's header beat the keeper but go inches wide of the upright. Immediately afterwards, a twenty five yard strike by Somerville beat the keeper all ends up but crashed back off the post and cleared. In the 41st minute, JAMIESON added a fifth after good work by Somerville. Half time: Brechin 0 Penicuik 5 In the opening minute a powerful twenty five yard Hume strike was well saved by keeper Davidson. In Penicuik's next attack, Hamilton came close with a shot from the edge of the penalty box. In the 53rd minute, a Somerville effort flew high over the crossbar. In the 61st minute Somerville again came close with the keeper looking on anxiously. Four minutes later Jamieson was denied by keeper Davidson when he tipped the striker’s shot over the bar. Penicuik continued to pile on the pressure and it was the turn of Jones to be denied by the keeper. Keeper Davidson continued to be the home side’s saviour when he pulled of the save of the game again frustrating Hamilton. Penicuik finally beat Davidson after he blocked a Hamilton shot and the ball fell to SOMERVILLE. He drilled the ball low into the six yard box and it hit the back of the net off the keeper. One minute later, Brechin’s S Eaton received a second yellow card for a terrible late tackle on Somerville who took no further part in the game. Penicuik continued to dominate the game and in the 79th minute a strike by McCrory-Irving hit the post. The scoring was completed in the 85th minute when sheer determination by HAMILTON  saw him fight to win the ball and slam home for his hat trick. Final score: Brechin 0 Penicuik 7
