The first forty five minutes saw the Cuikie struggle to get their game in gear with Bonnyrigg the better side. However the second half was a total turn around and earned Penicuik a semi final spot. Bonnyrigg were immediately on the attack and in the opening seconds of the game a Jancyzk free kick was headed back across the six yard box and two Rose players at the opposite post just failed to knock the ball home. In the 8th minute, a clever ball over the top of the Rose defence picked out Jones, but his effort went straight at keeper Young. Bonnyrigg were deined the opener when a high ball bounced over keeper Allison, but Forbes raced in to hook the ball off the line. In the 22nd minute a great diagonal pass picked out Gray who got round Williams but just as he was about to cross the stand side assistant flagged for a goal kick. Shortly afterwards a driving run by Currie saw his powerful shot flash narrowly wide of the target. At the other end Kateleza was denied by a last gasp tackle just as he was about to shoot. Then a Rose free kick was drilled into the box, but beat everyone by its pace. In the 38th minute, Penicuik’s first real strike on goal saw Somerville’s effort fly over the bar. Half Time: Penicuik 0 Bonnyrigg 0 Penicuik started the second half strongly and only took three minutes to open the scoring. Somerville, on the right, sent over an inch perfect cross that KATELEZA pounced on to slot home. In the 52nd minute, a McGachie strike flew high over the crossbar. Bonnyrigg started to apply pressure looking for the equaliser, but the Penicuik defence was solid. In the 56th minute, Williams lost possession but Allison was alert to the danger and dived down low to his left to save. Penicuik weathered the pressure well and on the hour mark Kateleza got the better of Brett and picked out Jones. He took a touch and unleashed a great shot, but keeper You pulled off the save of the match. In the 68th minute, livewire Kateleza dispossessed Hoskins and crossed the ball to the edge of the box. The pass was cut out by substitute Stewart who knocked the ball back to the keeper. Young failed to control the ball and JONES nipped in to score. Immediately afterwards, McGachie got on to the end of a cross to the back post, but his header was brilliantly saved by Allison and the rebound was blasted high over the bar. In the 75th minute it was keeper Young who came to the rescue for Bonnyrigg turning a Ponton strike round the post for a corner. Penicuik put the game to bed in the 80th minute when Kateleza set up JONES who blasted the ball past Young to make it 3 - 0. Four minutes later, Bonnyrigg got a consolation goal when Penicuik failed to clear the ball in the penalty area and MOYES shot home from close range. Final Score: Penicuik 3 Bonnyrigg 1
