Play swung to the other end when Gay saw his shot comfortably saved by White. Immediately afterwards, Bejaoui got down low to his left to save a shot by Smith. In the 9th minute, an Arthurlie free kick taken by Blakey whistled past Bejaoui’s right hand post. In their next attack Arthurlie saw a high looping ball competently dealt with by Bejaoui. Then Penicuik were down to ten men after McCallum required treatment for a head injury, but returned ten minutes later with his head bandaged. In the 19th minute, neat work between Lister and Killin saw Lister back heel the ball to Killin but his cross was deflected behind the advancing McCallum and the ball was thumped clear. Then a long range effort by Gay flew over the bar. On the half hour a Jancyzk free kick picked out McCulloch, but his inviting low ball across the six yard line found no takers for Penicuik. Penicuik took the lead in the 32nd minute when a Gay corner was headed against the bar and CUNNISON  headed home the rebound. Five minutes later, a great run and cross from the right wing saw Smith get in ahead of his marker at the front post, but failed to hit the target. Minutes later the same player did well to send over a great cross to the back post but Rafferty just failed to get his head to the ball. In the 40th minute, keeper White struggled to cut out a cross from the right and the ball fell to McCulloch but his effort hit the side netting. Half Time: Penicuik 1 Arthurlie 0 14 seconds into the half a Ross pass back put keeper Bejaoui in all sorts difficulties, but fortunately for Penicuik the danger was cleared. In the 51st minute, McCulloch drove powerfully through the middle of the park only to be chopped down by Green who received his second yellow card and an early bath. From the free kick, Cunnison headed home but was ruled offside by the far side assistant. Ten minutes later, substitute Burrell drove in on goal, but his weak shot was easily saved by White. Minutes later, Arthurlie had a great chance to equalise when a long high ball caught out the Penicuik defence, but McTernan’s effort went wide of the target. In the 66th minute, a long range strike by Lafferty went narrowly wide of the upright. Then in the 67th minute, disaster for Arthurlie when RUSHFORD headed into his own net. In the 76th minute, Jancyzk was dispossessed in his own half and BURNS drove forward to slam the ball from 25 yards into the bottom corner of the net beating Bejaoui all ends up. In the 88th minute a free kick to Arthurlie crashed back off the bar, the rebound was knocked back in and hooked off the line by Young. The Arthurlie players thought they had equalised, but the stand side assistant had raised his flag for offside much to their disgust. Then McGregor received a second yellow card for a deliberate hand ball reducing the visitors to nine men. One minute into injury time, and with Arthurlie’s discipline in tatters, Rushford received a straight red card for throwing the ball at Patterson after referee Steward had adjudged he had fouled Patterson. Penicuik now go on to the quarter finals with an away tie at Musselburgh Athletic on Saturday 14.3.15 Final Score: Penicuik 2 Arthurlie 1
