In the 4th minute, a Broughty corner flighted to the back post was headed narrowly past the post by M Brash. Two minutes later, a great Montgomery diagonal pass picked out Roxburgh. His first time cross was just missed by Millar and then a strike on goal was deflected away for a corner. In the 15th minute Broughty took the lead when indecision in the Penicuik defence saw a clearance picked up by DONALDSON and his strike from 25 yards took a wicked deflection over the head of Livie. Broughty now had their tails up and five minutes later had a great chance from a corner kick, but M Brash's header was well saved by Livie. Then the same player got on to the end of another corner kick, but headed over the bar. With Broughty in control of the game, they had three consecutive corner kicks desperately defended by Penicuik, and no sooner had Penicuik gained possession than they gave the ball away cheaply. However, Penicuik gradually fought their way back into the game and applied some real pressure on the Broughty defence in the last minutes of the half with four corners in a row, but the home side stood firm. Half Time: Broughty 1 Penicuik 0 Whatever was said in the Penicuik dressing room at half time certainly had an effect on the side because from the restart they upped the pace and put the home side on the defensive. It took only two minutes for the equaliser to arrive when a blocked shot by Killin fell to MONTGOMERY who blasted a left foot pile driver past Cormack from 20 yards. In the 58th minute, Roxburgh sent over a cross into the box, but was slightly over hit. However, Montgomery chased after the ball and chipped it back into the box where Cunnison rose above the defence but headed over the bar. One minute later, Cormack did well to save a Millar header off a Cunnison cross. In the 70th minute, a low cross from the right wing by Roxburgh saw Cormack dive down to nip the ball off Millar's toe. In a rare second half attack by Broughty, Burns got in ahead of Barr at a corner kick, but his header sailed over the crossbar. Five minutes later, with the Broughty goal under siege, keeper Cormack pulled off two great saves to deny Penicuik. In the 78th minute, Roxburgh broke up the right and cut the ball back to Millar who could only look on in disbelief as Cormack pulled off a fantastic one handed save to tip the ball past the post. Immediately afterwards, a Roxburgh header flashed past the junction of the crossbar and post. In the 82nd minute Cormack was finally beaten when substitute Patterson's first touch of the ball saw his shot crash back off the keeper's left hand post and cleared. Then a quick break from defence caught out Penicuik, but Livie pulled off a great diving save low down to his left to deny Broughty. Final score: Broughty 1 Penicuik 1
