They took the lead in the 9 th  minute when a long kick out by Bald was allowed to bounce by the Musselburgh central defenders and HARVEY took advantage and lobbed the ball over keeper Renton's head. Penicuik piled on the pressure and nine minutes later, a corner kick to the back post was driven goalwards by Barr, but was deflected. The ball fell to HARVEY who turned quickly and slammed the ball into the net from six yards. Penicuik were now comfortably in control with the Musselburgh defence finding it hard to cope with the pace of Montgomery down the left and strength of Harvey and Killin. On the half hour, Harvey had a chance for his hat trick, but mishit his shot and Renton saved comfortably. Right on half time Penicuik were caught with a sucker punch when a neat flick over the heads of the defence found KING who volley the ball in off the post to pull one back for Musselburgh. Half Time: Penicuik 2 Musselburgh 1 In the opening seconds of the half, Killin took on the Musselburgh defence only to see his shot blocked at the last second. Then Barr had a powerful shot blocked and cleared. In the 51 st  minute, a quick break from defence saw RENTON get past the defence and chip the ball over the advancing Bald for then equaliser. In their next attack, the same player out stripped his marker slipped the ball past Bald, but was brought down by the keeper. However Bald redeemed himself by saving King's effort from the spot. Penicuik then had a lean twenty minute spell when Musselburgh went all out for the winner, but were unable to penetrate the home defence. Penicuik gradually got back into the game, but like Musselburgh, could not find the back of the net. In the end a draw was probably a fair result.
