Website designed and maintained by Website4u An Interview with Johnny Harvey Tell me about your football career? I played with my local Boys Club until I was 16 as well as playing with Hearts FC from the age of 14 -16. When I was 16 I signed with Berwick Rangers Under 18s. I got the opportunity to sign a professional contract with the first team when I was 17. I signed however I didn’t play as much as I would have liked so I was loaned out to Bonnyrigg Rose. After half a season on loan at Bonnyrigg Rose I made the move permanent. I spent 3 seasons there before going on to play with Tranent Juniors and also Bathgate Thistle sandwiched in- between two spells here at Penicuik. Which team did you enjoy playing with most and why? Its no secret I have enjoyed my time here the most however I had a great time at Bathgate especially my first season when we went on to win the Scottish Junior Cup. What would you say was the highlight so far of your career in football? It has to be winning the Scottish Junior Cup, it’s a great achievement and something that ill always remember! What made you decide to sign for Penicuik? I signed for Penicuik first time around because I had played with Snowy at Bonnyrigg and he and Willie both described how ambitious the club was. I enjoyed my first spell here and when I left for Bathgate I always hoped to come back! As a player, what do you look for from your teammates? I look for everyone to be as dedicated and professional as I am. Always to give a 100% and if we all do that with the ability we have in the dressing room I have no doubt we will finish at the right end of the league table. Who do you think will be our main rivals and why? I’ve always felt from the start of the season it would be Glenrothes and Carnoustie and it seems to be working out that way. We certainly have nothing to fear if we can get our consistency sorted out. What do you personally hope to achieve this year? My main aim this year is for Penicuik Athletic to be promoted to the Super league and a personal aim of mine is to reach the 100 competitive goals for the club. Im still 21 short so that may have to wait until next season when we are in the super league. What is the best goal that you have ever scored? I scored a goal from the halfway line against Edinburgh United when I was playing with Bonnyrigg Rose and that managed to get goal of the season however my goal this season against Glenrothes was also one to remember. Finally, what are your interests outside football? If I’m not playing football I am watching it. I also like to play golf and go to the gym.
