Midlothian Community Sport Hubs All about us
Community Sport Hubs in Midlothian Midlothian Council is working with sportscotland to develop Sport Hubs in Midlothian, as part of our ongoing commitment to develop and encourage sport and physical activity and PE. What are Community Sport Hubs? Community Sport Hubs are a new initiative being introduced across Scotland, as a key part of the Scottish Government's 2014 Commonwealth Games Legacy for local communities. Community Sport Hubs (CSH) will be a "home" for local clubs and sports organisations and help develop the local sporting infrastructure. They will bring local people together to provide a more joined-up approach to local sports provision. The CSHs will be based in existing local facilities. The CSH will support local clubs and physical activity providers, to work together to increase participation and ensure the quality of sport provision across a wide range of sports and physical activities within Midlothian. A key part of this will be building capacity and skills: to support, develop and train a team of committed local deliverers. The main aims of Community Sport Hubs include providing a welcoming, safe, fun environment that will encourage more people to participate in sport and physical activity in their local community. The specifics of each CSH and what it offers will vary according to local needs and resources. There are 3 initial sites that we are looking to develop into multi-sport CSHs: 1.Newbattle Community High School 2.Penicuik Park 3.Roslin Community Hall However through the process of consultation and development, any potential Community Sport Hub sites will be considered. We wish to consult with sports clubs and groups, and the wider community, to seek their involvement in taking forward the development of the Community Sport Hubs.
