Penicuik fielded an unchanged line up whereas Armadale had made a few changes to their side since the teams last met in April when the game ended in a draw. Penicuik started well when Barr came close with a volley that flashed inches past the post.  Immediately afterwards, Armadale broke quickly and Bald did well to block Feeney’s strike on goal. Then in the 13th minute, a mistake by McKay allowed Brown to get possession and lay the ball off to Valentine. His powerful shot saw Bald, at full stretch, get two hands to the ball to turn it round the post for a corner. Six minutes later, following an Armadale free kick, Bald was again in action to deny the home side. Then a Penicuik free kick caused consternation in the Armadale defence, but Killin’s effort from the rebound went wide of the target. In the 25th minute, everyone in the ground thought Bonnar had scored for the home side, but the ball had gone past the post, but looked like it was in the net. On the half hour, Bald had to rush from goal to dive at the feet of Brown when the Penicuik defence failed to deal with a high ball. The home side took the lead in the 39th minute, when, from a corner kick, FEENEY headed home from close range. Half Time: Armadale 1 Penicuik 0 Whatever was said in the Penicuik dressing room certainly resulted in the visitors upping their game and three minutes into the half, only a superb tackle by Buchanan stopped Killin from scoring. From the corner, panic ensued in the Armadale defence when two strikes on goal were desperately blocked and cleared. In Penicuik’s next attack, Harvey dribbled his way along the goal line past four defenders, only to see his cut back desperately booted clear. Penicuik continued to pressure the home side and in the 52nd minute, a Harvey shot went inches past the upright. The pressure finally told in the 58th minute when a ball out of defence found Harvey. His strike was blocked, but the rebound fell to BRIGAIN who slotted home from just inside the box. In the 71st minute, Penicuik took the lead when a great pass from defence picked out HARVEY who drove in on goal and coolly slotted the ball past Walker into the bottom corner of the net. In Penicuik’s next attack, keeper Walker was well place to save a shot by Killin after being set up by Harvey. In the 87th minute the game was all square once again when a BONNAR free kick took a slight deflection off the defensive wall to beat Bald. Into injury time and Penicuik had a great chance to win the game when a Barr pass set up Killin, but he blasted the ball high and wide of the target. In the 92nd minute, with everyone anticipating a penalty shootout, a trade mark Barr pass over the Armadale defence picked out HARVEY. He charged in on goal and replicated his first goal, again shooting past Walker into the same bottom corner of the net. Final Score: Armadale 2 Penicuik 3
